NFL DRAFT CONCLUDES. TITANS SELECT SIMMONS, BROWN.

The NFL concluded it's 7 rounds and 3 days of draft coverage Saturday afternoon from Nashville. Unfortunately, prop bets on draft picks were not available at any of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Casinos. At least they were not at any of the ones I was able to go by check beforehand. If you wanted to bet on the NFL JDraft you either had to go to Las Vegas or bet online, which apparently you would have had to be in Nevada to do as well.

That being said my biggest surprise from this year's NFL Draft is the Tennessee Titans selecting Mississippi State Defensive Tackle Jeffrey Simmons and Ole Miss Wide Receiver AJ in the first and second rounds respectively. Of course my bigges personal takeway had to have a local connection even if both players are from North Mississippi and not the Gulf Coast. Arguably, the two highest profile players for Mississippi's biggest in-state rivals will now become teammates in Nashville. Even more coincidental about them joining forces is that they have each been awarded the Conerly Trophy given to Mississippi's best college football player with Brown winning it in 2017 and Simmons winning it in 2018.

In addition as highly prized high school recruits they grew up less than an hour from each other with Brown playing in Mississippi State's backyard in Starkville and Simmons starring for powerhouse Noxubee Central in Macon. It should be a manageable weekend road trip to Nashville from North Mississippi for family and friends to come watch Simmons and Brown play. Had their prop bet available to wager on Simmons and Brown landing on the same team, I'm sure the payoff would have been big. Maybe for the 2020 NFL Draft. Football is coming!
