One of the greatest border wars rivalries in college football has been significantly one sided for a while now.Yes, I’m talking about Alabama vs Tennessee, a rivalry also best known for when it is played:“Third Saturday in October.”Alabama is currently on a 15 game winning streak in this series with Tennessee’s last win coming in 2006.Nearly all of Alabama’s wins during this streak have been completely dominating. Of course, Nick Saban has had a lot to do with as just about all of Alabama’s wins during his coaching tenure have been dominating regardless if the opponent was Tennessee or not. While Alabama has been remarkably consistently successful under Saban, Tennessee has struggled mightily not coming anywhere near the success they achieved during the late 90’s to early 2000’s and going through a revolving door of head coaches since. But the winds of change seem to be blowing on Rocky Top.2nd year Coach Josh Heupel has the Vols 6th in the nation heading into this weekend when they host 3rd ranked Alabama. They are also riding an enormous wave of momentum coming off a 40-13 trouncing of LSU in Death Valley (granted it was a day game), while the Tide barely squeaked out a 24-20 home win over a struggling Texas A&M squad. Alabama's strugges against Texas A&M can largely be attributed to turnovers and the absence of starting Quarterback and last year's Heisman Trophy Winner Bryce Young. Young is expected to return vs the Vols. Also expected is for the Tide to win their 16th in a row in this rivalry. At least that is what oddsmakers expect. Mississippi Gulf Coast casino sportsbooks all have Alabama around a 7 point favorite with the over/under hovering around 65. That is not what I expect for what my two cents are worth. Tennessee seems to be surging on momentum while Alabama is showing too much vulnerability. No rat poison coming from here, Nick Saban. Goal posts will come down in Neyland Stadium Saturday. Final Score prediction: Tennessee 34 Alabama 27. (Written for entertainment purposes only, not to provide actual betting advice).
